The Cycle

cycle

The first thing any true fan blog should do is take a good hard look at what’s going on around them. With that being said, we take a trip around the bases.

We know how important community is to Brewer’s fans. As Wisconsin residents we find ourselves lucky to be surrounded by some of the most die-hard professional sporting fans around. As a salute to all of those die-hards out there like ourselves, we wanted to spend some time each week highlighting what we found across the Brewersphere.

In lieu, we bring you this weeks “Cycle.”

The Cycle

Single

I was scrounging around at Brewerfan.net and was happy to hear that Braun and Hardy both had an early lead in the All-Star Balloting

“The National League has released its first round of balloting for the All-Star Game and Brewers leftfielder Ryan Braun and shortstop  J.J. Hardy lead at their positions.

Braun has 663,164 votes, most among outfielders and ahead of the Cubs Alfonso Soriano, who has 545,354.

Hardy (403,269 votes) is ahead of Florida’s Hanley Ramirez (365,746) and Philly’s Jimmy Rollins (321,098), somewhat surprising because of Hardy’s slow start (.234, 5 HRs, 23 RBI). Rollins got off to a slow start, also. It just shows you how strong the support has been from Brewers’ fans, online and at the ballpark.”

Guess who is in second at second? Can you say Rickie?

Double

With the whole “Cardinals getting angry about the untuckem” thing going on, we were able to run across at least one sensible Cardinal fan this week.

“I don’t see what the big deal is? So what, they un-tuck their shirts after a win. You don’t like it, beat em, or pipe down.”

We could not agree more.

Triple

We have to toot our own horn a little bit, as we are tickled to be having “untuckem” Night with the Wisconsin Woodchucks and Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

“Flapjack Creative presents the first ever UNTUCKEM week. Held at Athletic Park with partners Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Central Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Woodchucks, there will be activities all week. Friday night = Woodchucks home opener. Saturday = BBBS and their Matches clean-up the Park. Monday = First 500 people in get a free UNTUCKEM CHUCKS t-shirt!”

Nothing beats some free t-shirt action.

Home Run

Now I am well aware that Todd Coffey news will probably never make the Home Run section again. We all know his famous sprint to the pitchers mound, but did you know that now we have an official time?

“The scoreboard operators at Miller Park have added a wrinkle to Coffey’s run by timing it. Even though the Brewers were trailing by six runs when Coffey was summoned to face the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night, the fans roared as if Trevor Hoffman were coming in for a save. Coffey completed his run in 13.53 seconds.”

That just reeks of untuckem.

Which Brewer screams "untuckem" to you the most?

  3. FlapDad Said,

What’s the most runs ever scored in the top of the tenth? Just want to know if I witnessed history on our first night in Wausau.
